1. All General Sailing Regulations and Instructions are posted on the Notice Board in the Club House and include Standard Sailing Instructions as recommended by the R.Y.A.
The safety of a yacht and her entire management, including insurance, shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/competitor racing the yacht.
All yachts competing in events organised by the Club must be adequately insured with third party cover of at least two million pounds. The Committee reserves the right at their discretion to request sight of evidence of such insurance or, to require an owner to sign a declaration that such insurance is held.
2. For all trophies awarded on points the following system will be observed: -
(a) CLASS RACES. The first boat shall receive 1 point and each following boat one point more.
Boats which retire shall receive one point more than the total declared entry for the race. Boats which are disqualified after protest shall receive 3 points more than the total declared entry for the race. The Trophies will be awarded to the helmsman scoring the least number of points in a specific boat, after taking discards into consideration.
A helmsman wishing to sail in a different boat, or boats, during a series must make application to the Sailing Secretary giving the reason. If the reason is acceptable then the points scored during the series will be aggregated.
(b) ALLCOMERS RACES. The points system will be as for CLASS RACES but Trophies will be awarded to the helmsman scoring the least points, taking into account boat and personal handicaps.
(c) Helmsmen will be required to sail at least 50% of possible races in the series to qualify for the Trophy.
3. All helmsmen are expected to be conversant with the Club’s detailed Racing Rules – a copy of which is on the Club House Notice Board.
